Free Exercises To Stop Snoring

You know what snoring really is? It is that harsh, rattling noise that is usually produced when you sleep deep, when the air you inhale through your mouth vibrates the soft palate at the roof of your throat. The soft palate is a tissue of mouth near the throat, which causes your lips, cheeks, and nostrils also to quiver when it vibrates, making the snoring even louder. That is what snoring is.

And you know what really causes snoring? It is because the muscles of your throat are so lose that they can barely hold together; most of the time, you snore because you have too much fat stored in your throat.

Ok, you must have heard that almost everyone snores occasionally, and that men usually snore more often than women and children do, and you are probably right. But you will also agree with me that when ten people sleep in the same room, the fat and overweight ones are usually the ones who snore the most or the loudest.

You must have also heard that a cold or other infection can make breathing difficult and cause the sound of snoring as you struggle to draw air through blocked nasal passages and throat. But then again, if you exercised, the cold wouldn’t be so severe.

Ok, there are the occasional medical conditions that can cause snoring too, but there are bound to be a few anomalies here and there. Swollen tonsils and adenoids, lymphoid tissues located at the back of your throat can cause the noisy sleep syndrome all right, as well as a misshapen wall separating the nasal cavity, which is called a nasal polyp. But you also know that snoring can occur when flabby throat muscles are drawn into the airway as you breathe in your sleep. Basically, this is the big deal.

The bottom line is that you really, really can stop snoring by good exercise. Speak to any qualified medical professional about it, and they will tell you that your snoring greatly improves if you are able to shed some weight. Added to that, the exercise also tautens the muscles all over your body, especially those of your throat, so that they don’t vibrate so much. As such, when air passes through, the resulting noise is either nonexistent or greatly minimized.

Even when alcohol, drugs, or deep sleep overly relaxes muscular control, exercise will go a long way to help you stop snoring. Do not get me wrong; I do not encourage the use of drugs or alcohol, and especially not when they are abused, I am just saying. In any case, your doctor has probably told you that you need to tighten the flabby muscle tone all over your body and in your throat through exercise. It is not by fluke that they say so, and it is certainly not to get you. Such recommendations are meant to help you.

However, there is an added warning. Even though snoring and exercise are like inversely proportional to each other, you cannot overdo it. When you work out too hard, you get to tire yourself out a bit more than is needed. As a result, your exhausted throat muscles might relax a bit more than you want them to, and that night your snoring may be louder than ever before.

So yes to the question: ‘can exercise really stop snoring?’ but no to the question about harder exercise being more effective than easier ones to break the habit. In simple terms, work out, lose some weight, but put a light lid on the exercise; it helps, but not when you overdo it.

You are probably reading this because you have been trying to stop snoring for a while now and you haven’t been doing so well in your efforts. Well, I’d be the last person to point accusing fingers at you because I was there myself at one time. It took me a long while too to finally remedy my snoring.

I kept coming across various ideas for how you can ’stop snoring’, and how ’snoring cessation is so easy’, and how ‘twenty steps to stop snoring’ were so ideal for me. But really it was all futile because it never got me very far. Finally I learnt, and I found a way to do it; I just wish it hadn’t taken so long.

Now, I am going to do you a favor that no one ever did me: I am going to outline for you a simple exercise program to help you stop snoring once and for all. If you stick with it, you should be calling back inside of a week to tell me thanks… and I’ll be saying ‘you’re welcome’.

You want to start up your day with nothing but eggs. Crack about three of four raw eggs into a cup and down it just the way Rocky Balboa did in the Rocky movies – no additives- or subtractive. Then you are going to step out of the house and run. Mind you are no Rocky just yet so you want to take things easy a bit.

Besides, you are not going up against some Apollo Creed or Clubber Lang either; what you are going up against is the fatty deposits in your breathing passages that are causing the air to grate against them when you breathe in your sleep.

Three miles may be a lot to run on the first day, so can start with two. Funny how you have to be running to clear your throat but really, that’s what it takes. There are other exercises you may want to do too, such as sit-ups and crunches, squats and skipping.

I have also heard that swimming helps a great deal, but you don’t want to push things too far just yet. The eggs were to smoothen your throat and to give you energy without intoxicating you or making you heavy. The running, well, you know the running is meant to help you shed weight.

When you return home, you should see that you take a lot of water and that you don’t eat any junk food or a diet with too much carbohydrate in it. Simple vegetables and fruit will do, and then you are off to work.

However busy you may get, try to remember not to go out and order fries today, and when work is over, you can try walking home if it is not too far. If home is far, you may try walking only the last couple of blocks today.

You should perhaps not smoke today; if can’t help it, at least you can start by cutting it down somewhat today. However badly you want to drink, be sure to keep it light to, say one glass or two, and see that you are done with all of that by six pm. Whatever medications you are taking should also be taken by then so that they don’t cause you to sleep too deep, or relax the muscles in your throat too much.

When you sleep tonight, attach a tennis ball to the back of your pajamas, and lie on your side. I trust you have a new thicker pillow too, one that can raise your head a few inches off of the bed.

The second and third days are always the hardest when you are changing your lifestyle, but this simple exercise is guaranteed to help you stop snoring virtually in no time at all. As long as you don’t compromise on the stop snoring program, you should have the wife giving you kudos before you have been at it for too long.
